The SESEC Project

The Seconded European Standardization Expert for China (SESEC) project is managed by Quality Partnerships on behalf of European standardization organizations, CEN, CENELEC, and ETSI.

The SESEC project is co-sponsored by the European Commission and EFTA, and seconded by the European Delegation to China.

The aim of the project is to enhance visibility of European standardization and contribute to the integration of China into the WTO trade system. Moreover, it helps European industry to maintain and increase its competitiveness in the global marketplace.

The SESEC project first ran between July 2006 and June 2009. The second phase of the project was launched in November 2009 for 3 years.

The main achievements of SESEC Phase 1 can be summarized as follows:

  • MoU between ESOs and SAC
  • New EU-China Standards Platform
  • New Standards and Conformity Assessment WG at EUCCC
  • New Dialogue facility between MoHURD and the EU Commission
  • Cooperation agreement ETSI – CESI
  • Establishment of MDER (Medical Devices Expert Roundtable) and ERT (Automotive Expert Roundtable)
  • Completion of 4 key studies with support of EUCTP and IPR2 Project Facilities
